The 2016 Model UN is in the books. We had about 100 students who registered to represent more than 50 UN member states in four committees. Congratulations to the winners of the Best Delegate Awards.

- Maggie Panetta (Netherlands) - Development Committee: Foreign Aid
- Reagan Smith (Russia) - Security Committee: International Terrorism
- Sean Killion (Singapore) - Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Access to Water and Sanitation
Our Model UN team traveled to Atlanta for Southern Regional Model UN (SRMUN) on November 17-19, 2016. College of Charleston students represented the delegations of Turkey and Ukraine. Students Mary Boyd Barefoot, Amelia Davenport, Jacob Docalavich, Morgan Godfrey, Natalia Hardee, Alia Kapasi, Olivia Liska, Cory Nelson, Preston Pyatt, Jonathan Solomon and Katherine Williams were recognized with the following team honors:
Honorable Delegation – Turkey
Honorable Delegation – Ukraine
Outstanding Position Paper – Ukraine
International studies and political science professor Max Kovalov prepared the students for the competition and traveled with them to Atlanta.
